- "Strangers try to kill me, leave my map on a burning plane... Elena's missing, most likely dead. That's great. Great start, Nate."
- — Nate, speaking to himself
"Plane-wrecked" is the fourth chapter of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
After escaping Navarro's mercenaries, Nate and Elena take Sully's seaplane and travels to an uncharted island in the South Pacific, which is the supposed location of the El Dorado statue. As they draw closer to the island, Elena films their approach with her camera, recording for a new episode of her show.Without warning, they are hit by an anti-aircraft fire which destroys one of their engines. Nate insists that they bail out. Elena searches for a couple of parachutes while Nate desperately tries to keep control of the plummeting plane. After grabbing the parachutes, Elena straps one on and then jumps out the plane. Nate then seizes control of the plane and proceeds to jump out. Upon jumping, he attempts to open his parachute, only to discover that it has been pierced and has a hole in it, which leaves him falling straight down into the trees.
Shortly after, Nate awakens to find himself dangling from a statue, still strapped into his parachute. He cuts himself loose and drops down. Checking his pockets, he notices he left the map on the wrecked plane, which is a long way from his position. He proceeds to venture into the jungle, heading towards the distant column of smoke rising from the wreck of his plane. Following several gunfights with Eddy Raja's pirates, he eventually finds the front end of the plane in an encampment and is relieved to see the map still in one piece. However, upon turning around, he spots Elena's parachute dangling from a tower far away.
As Nate makes his way to the fortress, he discovers that several spike traps have been set throughout the jungle, which would impale anyone unlucky enough to trigger them. Navigating through the jungle and around these traps, Nate arrived at the wall of a large fortress, and with no other way in, he began doing some difficult climbing along the fortress walls.
After the cutscene, begin walking ahead towards the gate. It is locked, so shoot the lock and bust your way through. Head through the path and jump down. Climb the rocks on your right and pass through the next area. You will come across a stream of water. Jump onto the stones and carefully walk across the tree stump.
Major battle: 1st courtyard
You will then be confronted by Eddy's pirates. Shoot them down, cross the tree stump and then climb up the vine. Take out several more pirates. Head down the path, climb up some stone, and you will be overlooking an area filled with Eddy's men. Carefully climb down by jumping down onto the ledge below. Take these guys out, and then climb up the stones to get to the higher area. There is hole to the left of the door, which you can use to toss grenades to the two pirates hiding behind the little stone barrier. Otherwise, just bust through the gate and take out all of the pirates in this area, as well as more around the corner. After that, climb up the wall at the far corner, then jump across several others to get over a tall gate. Press on to take out a few more pirates. You will then come out into the open with a huge waterfalls.
Jump to your right and start traversing the ledges until you get onto the pieces of land in the water. Jump onto that part of the broken bridge, then shoot the guys above the waterfall. Head over to the cliff underneath the waterfall. Shimmy along the ledges to get onto another part of the broken bridge. Jump down onto some stones below, then jump forward onto a lower ledge. Pirate on a truck arrives and start shooting at you. Shimmy along the ledge, climb up and shoot the dynamite on the truck. The truck get tossed down in between the stones to create a path for you. Climb your way up and cross the water, taking out two more pirates above the waterfall ahead. Get onto the land to your right.
Major battle: 2nd courtyard
Press on and climb up a vine to get into the next area, which is packed with pirates, and is also where the plane wreck is. Jump down and take out the guys. Next, climb up the rope from the plane to trigger a cutscene. After that, climb back down, and you'll be confronted by more pirates. Take them out to pass through.
Major battle: 3rd courtyard
Make your way around the mountain by scaling the cliffs and the ledges. You will reach another area filled with more enemies and deadly traps. Avoid the traps at all costs. If you trip the wire of a trap, quickly press circle to roll yourself out of the way. Take out all of the enemies in the area, then pass through the trees and make your way up to the fortress to begin the next chapter.
|1||Silver Inca Figurine||At the start of this chapter, turn around and face the giant tree with Nate's parachute. The treasure is to the right of the base of the tree.|
|2||Silver Fish Charm||When you first encounter the small waterfall, turn left and head toward the nook in the rock wall. The treasure is behind the small tropical tree.|
|3||Gold Frog||When you reach the first log crossing, drop down the ledge to the right of the log to find this frog.|
|4||Intricate Gold Ring||After killing the numerous pirates in the large open area, climb up the pillars and follow the pillar to the end. Jump to the platform (there should be an exploding barrel here if you haven't shot it yet). The treasure is in the corner of this platform, near a small boulder.|
|5||Patterned Silver Ring||In the last section before you jump over the large gated wall, head left and to the corner where the top of the wall is partially blown out. Climb up onto the ledge here and grab this treasure.|
|6||Golden Jaguar||This treasure is in the next area (with pirates) after the previous treasure. After defeating the pirates, head left (opposite the next area with the large waterfall) and you'll see a huge white tree. The treasure is in the corner between the huge white tree and the small white trees.|
|7||Silver Inca Vessel||This cool-looking treasure is in the little section right before you discover a section of Sullivan's crashed plane. In this area, you have to jump from a slanted narrow slab of rock to a slanted log. The treasure is fairly easy to spot: it is to the right and below the log, in the corner of the rock wall.|
|8||Golden Toothpick||This one can be found immediately outside the area where Sullivan's plane is crashed, before encountering the first wooden death trap.|
|9||Silver Bird Vessel||This treasure is very easy to miss. It is separated from the previous treasure by a platforming section. Once you finish the platforming section and before you move onto the next area (containing numerous wooden death traps), head to the right and to the cliff. Be very careful here because you will fall off if you move too far from the edge because there is nothing for you to hang onto here.|
|10||Silver Inca Earring||After exiting the area with the wooden deathtraps, head forward, but make a U-turn to the grassy ledge overlooking the area with the wooden deathtraps. The treasure is lying in the grass here.|
