The Dragon Sniper is a sniper rifle featured in the Uncharted series. Due to its rarity, whenever it is available it is generally only with the express purpose of picking off enemy snipers or powerful far-away targets in a large area. It has a slow firing rate and reload speed, and ammo is always in very limited supply, all to counteract its range, accuracy, and power. If used by enemies the weapon will have a red laser, indicating their aim.

In Drake's Fortune it scopes in automatically when aimed, and can further zoom in by pressing R3. Among Thieves features an adjustable zoom function over the standard scoped view. Drake's Deception added actual recoil and lowered the damage, requiring two shots if it is not a headshot.

History[]

Drake's Fortune[]

Race to the Rescue gameplay 3

The Dragon Sniper was never actually used by enemies in Drake's Fortune, as the only snipers encountered used the Desert - 5 pistol. It is presumed they belong to Atoq Navarro's mercenaries' arsenal, as they are typically found in their presence, and the one in "Trapped" (behind a staircase) likely belonged to them as well, as they also left several M4 rifles behind.

Aside from "Trapped", Nate also found and used one in the monastery's courtyard during "Sanctuary?", and again in the same area in the later chapter "Race to the Rescue". Dragon Snipers also were available during "On the Trail of the Treasure" in the graveyard, and during "Unwelcome Guests" in the bunker.

Among Thieves[]

The Dragon Sniper appeared in Borneo during the chapter "The Dig", when Sully used one for a short while later during the gun fight at Zoran Lazarević's campsite. Later on Nate could acquire one from a sniper in "Only One Way Out", and also find them lying around in other subsequent chapters. He also had to use several of them to counter-snipe a large group of snipers camping out in a series of towers during "The Monastery".

When used the rifle does not automatically zoom in to the scope and has a zoomed-out reticle unlike the one in Drakes Fortune, which is more suitable for use in shorter ranges. However, this reticle does disappear if you fire too quickly, lowering accuracy. The reticle will reappear once a very short cooldown has elapsed.

The Dragon Sniper is available for purchase in the rewards menu for $20,000, whereas in Among Thieves Remastered it is unlocked once you have beaten the game on Crushing or higher.

Multiplayer[]

Among Thieves[]

In Among Thieves multiplayer, the Dragon Sniper has had several changes made to it due to Among Thieves patches developed by Naughty Dog. Originally, it took two Dragon Sniper shots to kill an opponent, reduced to one shot when hitting the head. The firing rate was fast, with the player easily able to make rapid shots in succession.

Update 1.05 rebalanced weapon damage for all guns, including the Dragon Sniper. The sniper became a one shot kill, regardless of the body part hit, with the same rate of fire. The magazine size was reduced to six bullets in an effort by Naughty Dog to counter glitching with the sniper.

Update 1.06 added more changes to the Dragon Sniper. The rate of fire for the Dragon Sniper was also reduced by 10%, meaning no more rapid succession shooting.

Drake's Deception[]

In the Drake's Deception multiplayer, the Dragon Sniper is no longer a power weapon limited to certain maps, but is instead a standard weapon. It is one of the four available long guns selectable for each player loadout. In terms of performance, the weapon is less of a true sniper rifle and more of a marksman rifle; the weapon has reduced firepower, requiring two shots at mid-range to kill an opponent, as opposed to the single-shot yet stronger T-Bolt Sniper, which requires one shot to kill a target.

The Dragon Sniper can be outfitted with modifications such as Clip Size, Call Out (lvl 14), Reload Speed (lvl 20), and Max Ammo (lvl 23). Sully's Dragon enables call out, marking enemies for teammates, and max ammo, giving more bullets. Draza's Dragon enables clip size, which increases the magazine from five bullets to eight, and increased reload speed.

Medal and trophy[]

Scoring 30 kills with the Dragon Sniper will unlock the medal, worth 10 points, and bronze trophy "30 Kills: Dragon Sniper" in Drake's Fortune and Drake's Fortune Remastered. Scoring 50 kills will unlock the medal, worth $10,000, and bronze trophy "50 Kills: Dragon Sniper" in Among Thieves and Among Thieves Remastered.

The same amount of kills will also unlock the bronze trophy "30 Kills: Dragon Sniper" in both Drake's Deception and Drake's Deception Remastered, as well as a bronze trophy in Golden Abyss.

Killing five descendants with the Dragon Sniper will also unlock an additional bronze trophy called "Supernatural Born Killers" in Drake's Fortune Remastered. In Among Thieves Remastered you instead can earn a trophy of the same name and type by killing five Shambhala Guardians with the Dragon Sniper. Drake's Deception Remastered also has a trophy of the same name and type for killing five Djinns with a sniper rifle.
