Guy Wood (initials G.W.) was a pirate captain and one of the original founders of Libertalia.

OverviewEdit

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2016) Edit

Very little is known about his background or exploits, other than being a remarkable swordsman after coming from nothing. He would then be recruited by Henry Avery, to became a pirate lord alongside Thomas Tew and ten other pirates and help founded Libertalia. However soon after the construction of Libertalia, tensions grew and eventually a civil war broke out. Like the other captains, Wood was poisoned and killed by Avery and Tew.

His sigil was that of a red monkey holding a knife in its tail, and an hourglass.

TriviaEdit

  • Guy Wood is an homage to the fictional pirate Guybrush Threepwood, the protagonist of the Monkey Island series. Guy Wood's sigil, the red monkey, is an allusion to the franchise name.
    • Sully's remark on Guy Wood's looks is also a reference and joke about Guybrush's youthful and non-intimidating appearance, a running joke within the Monkey Island series that most of the cast would point out upon meeting Guybrush.
  • Since Guy Wood is based on Guybrush Threepwood, it's plausible he hails from the Caribbean, much like Guybrush.
  • His name is not present or mentioned within the game, with his commemorative plaques often found destroyed, and most characters not knowing much about him.
    • His initials, G.W., are present in one of the cosmetic items in the multiplayer, as the name of a trucker hat that features his sigil.
      • Even though Guy Wood is based on Guybrush Threepwood, his initials do not match Guybrush's, which would be G. T. or G. Th.. This may be due to the developers wanting to avoid any legal issues with LucasArts, the publisher of the Monkey Island series.
  • His full name can be found in a bonus item included in the special editions of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. These editions included a sticker sheet of all the sigils of the members of the Pirate Round, including Guy Wood's.
