Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
(mentioned only)

Guy Wood (initials G.W.) was a pirate captain and one of the original founders of Libertalia.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (2016)

Very little is known about his background or exploits, other than being a remarkable swordsman after coming from nothing. He would then be recruited by Henry Avery, to became a pirate lord alongside Thomas Tew and ten other pirates and help founded Libertalia. However soon after the construction of Libertalia, tensions grew and eventually a civil war broke out. Like the other captains, Wood was poisoned and killed by Avery and Tew

His sigil was that of a red monkey holding a knife in its tail, and an hourglass.

  • Guy Wood is an homage to the fictional pirate Guybrush Threepwood, the protagonist of the Monkey Island series. Guy Wood's sigil, the red monkey, is an allusion to the franchise name.
  • Guy Wood's design is based on Guybrush Threepwood's design from "LeChuck's Revenge Monkey Island 2". In which, Guybrush has longer hair, an overcoat, and a goatee. The clothes, colors, clothing articles, hair, facial hair, and jewellery all match. The similarity is uncanny, Guy Wood is simply Guybrush Threepwood in a more realistic style.
  • Sully's remark on Guy Wood's appearance is also a reference and joke about Guybrush looks in that game ("LeChuck's Revenge Monkey Island 2"), where most characters view Guybrush as very young and non-intimidating. Although Guybrush's youthful appearance is always a running joke in the Monkey Island series, where most of the cast would point that out upon meeting Guybrush.
  • Since Guy Wood is based on Guybrush Threepwood, its safe to assume he hails from the caribbean, just like Guybrush Threepwood.
  • His name is not present or mentioned within the game, with his commemorative plaques often found destroyed, and most characters not knowing much about him.
    • His initials, G.W., are present in one of the cosmetic items in the multiplayer, as the name of a trucker hat that features his sigil.
    • Even though Guy Wood is based on Guybrush Threepwood, his initials dont match Guybrush's (which may be G. T. or G. Th.), this maybe due to the developers not wanting to get into legal issues with the Monkey Island developers Lucas Arts.
  • His full name can be found in a bonus item included in the special editions of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. These editions included a sticker sheet of all the sigils of the members of the Pirate Round, including Guy Wood's.
