Out of the Frying Pan is the seventh chapter of Drake's Fortune. Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher used a jeep to escape from Eddy Raja and his pirates.

Story[]

After Elena freed Nate from his cell, Eddy's pirates pursued the two in a chase that led them across the island. While Elena controlled the wheel, Nate manned a machine gun to keep the pirates off their tail.

Once they had evaded the last of their pursuers, the two reached a dead-end where Elena nearly drove the jeep over a cliff. Nate was thrown from his seat but managed to cling to the back of the vehicle. Once Elena helped him back up, Nate took over the driver's seat. As he attempted to free a stuck wheel, Eddy and his crew caught up to them. Eddy accused the pair of a setup, then fired his shotgun through their window. He demanded they stay still and relinquish the map. Nate stalled for time and quietly told Elena to hold on tight. As Eddy grew impatient and continued his demands, Nate quickly reversed the jeep, backing it off the cliff and into the water below.

Walkthrough[]

The chapter begins with Nate manning a machine gun while Elena drives through a jungle. To keep Eddy's men at bay, players can use the machine gun with the standard trigger or grenades with the aim button. Grenades have a longer reload time and are more suitable for large groups of enemies or trucks, while bullets are effective against smaller vehicles. Accuracy increases as the firing reticle shrinks, so it is recommended to maintain short bursts of fire.

On occasion, vehicles will approach from the sides. Due to the density of trees and obstacles, scoring hits can be difficult. Midway through the chase, after approaching the cliffside dead-end, a large oncoming truck must be quickly destroyed with the grenade launcher to prevent a collision. The path then leads through a small cave where grenades are required to clear rubble blocking the exit. After defeating the final few enemies and jumping over a gap, the chapter concludes at the end of the road.
