Train-wrecked is the fifteenth chapter of Among Thieves. After being shot and blowing up part of the train to escape Harry Flynn and Zoran Lazarević's soldiers, Nate wakes up in a train car hanging perilously off of a cliff. Wounded, he has to escape the car and make his way through the wreckage before he will succumb to both the gunshot and the Himalayan temperature.

Story[]

The start of the chapter began immediately after the opening cutscene of the game in "A Rock and a Hard Place", with some minor cuts made to speed up the climb through the train car, along with some additional commentary by Nate that was not present in the first chapter.

Back Where We Started[]

After reaching the clifftop the scene skipped the flashback and tutorial gameplay of the first chapter, instead cutting straight to where he finds the Phurba again. Instead of finishing there, the cutscene continued and revealed Nate noticing two trucks full of more soldiers arriving at the scene with the intention to locate the Phurba.

Brought in from the Cold[]

After defeating the soldiers and escaping the wreckage Nate was seen crawling through the snow, collapsing with no apparent way out, until a distant figure became visible in the distance through the snowstorm. Some unknown time later, Nate woke up in a bed with a child watching him, at which point an unknown man addressed her, causing her to leave. Nate asked where he was, but the man only spoke in Tibetan, and offered Nate something to drink. He then helped him get up, the two unable to communicate, although Nate understood he wanted him to go somewhere.

Walkthrough[]

The start of the chapter is almost identical to that of the opening sequence, so repeat your actions and climb up the railcar. The game will skip past the tutorial gameplay through the wreckage and after a cutscene pit you against a group of soldiers looking for the daggers in the middle of a set of wrecked train cars in a fairly open area. As the level size here no longs limits you to the contours of a series of train cars you will be able to far more easily flank and sneak up on the roaming soldiers, especially coupled with the height advantage and cover the wreckages can provide you.

Notably there is an M32 - Hammer on the top of the wreckage on the left side, and a Dragon Sniper atop the one on the right. Crates in all wreckages also have Mk-NDI grenades placed atop of them, and another crate between the cliff up ahead and the cart positioned like a bridge has a Desert - 5 lying on top of it. The Desert - 5 is akin to the Wes - 44, albeit with more ammo capacity and even more stopping power. There are also Moss - 12s, FALs, M4s, AK-47s, and 92FS - 9mms lying around, with some soldiers also carrying Micro - 9mms. Lastly there are also several convenient propane tanks that survived the crash.

After dealing with the first group of soldiers the game will throw a second wave at you, which come on close to where you entered the area. They are best caught before they manage to spread out and start looking for you, as being grouped up and in the open makes them rather vulnerable. The third wave will follow immediately after the second has been taken down, with the game showing them climbing down near the fuel car further up the mountain. After these men a final wave of three armored shotgunners will climb down, and a snowstorm will pick up as well, heavily limiting visibility.

If possible engage the shotgunners with your strongest remaining weapons (as you will not be able to take them with you into the next chapter), or opt for something accurate and with range to shoot their helmet off from afar. Once cleared Nate will lose some of his mobility, his gunshot wound finally catching up to him. Make your way to the fuel tanker and climb up the ledge on the left and jump down the other side, at which point the game will initiate another cutscene, which leads directly into the next chapter "Where Am I?".
